Bomb carrier killed in Rajshahi mosque blast: Autopsy report

Rajshahi, Dec 26 (UNB) – The youth killed in Friday’s bomb blast on the Ahmadiyya mosque in Mochmoil area of Bagmara upazila was carrying the bomb, said an autopsy report on Saturday.
Enamul Haque, a lecturer of Forensic Department of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, conducted the autopsy and confirmed that the deceased youth was carrying the bomb.
The youth was killed in the bomb blast as there were serious injury marks on his body, Dr Enamul told reporters after the autopsy.
Doctors also found four sprinters in his liver and serious wounds in his left hand, he said.
Dr Enamul also said if the identity of the deceased could not be confirmed by Saturday then it will be handed over to voluntary organisation Quantum Foundation for his burial.
Meanwhile, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) had detained two people from Mochmoil area for interrogation in connection with the blast, but released them later as they did not find their involvement in the incident.
Besides, police on Friday night filed a case against some unidentified people in connection with the explosionh, said officer-in-charge of Bagmara Police Station Matiar Rahman.
Earlier, the youth was killed and eight others injured in the explosion.
Police said the bomb suddenly went off when the youth tried to free it from his waist in a bid to detonate it while devotees were offering their Juma’ prayers in the mosque of the Ahmadiyya community, leaving him dead on the spot.
Eight devotees were also injured in the incident.
