Kushtia, Apr 14 (UNB) – A three-day ‘Baishakah and Science Fair’ started at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday amid festive mood and much enthusiasm.
The university authorities organised the fair on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh and the Bengali New Year-1425 adjacent to the university’s Arts’ and Science Faculty buildings.
IU vice-chancellor prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari inaugurated the event as chief guest while pro-VC prof M Shahinoor Rahman, its Treasurer prof M Selim Toha and proctor prof M Mahbubar Rahman addressed the programme as special guests with Marketing Department chairman, prof M Zakaria Rahman in chair.
Earlier, the teachers, officers, students and staffs of the university brought out a colorful rally led by the university vice-chancellor from in front of the university’s administration building around 9:30am.
The procession ended in front of the Moncha of the fair after parading main roads of the campus.
Around five thousands teachers, officers and students including IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif, director of IIER Professor M Maher Ali and dean of different faculties and chairman of different departments took part in the rally.
