Dhaka, July 12 (UNB) - Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) stressed on the hassle and bribe-free 'swift service' to car registration and fitness certificate seekers.

A team of ACC conducted a sudden drive on Thursday in Bangladesh Road Transport and Authority (BRTA) in city’s Mirpur area for monitoring the registration and fitness activities aiming to end the corruption in the sector.

The nine-member team including the law enforcers raided the BRTA office based on the specific complaint of transport owners through the hotline 106.

ACC deputy director Zahid Hasan led the raid in all 20 counters in 5 hours while the team also exchanged the opinion with 10 registration and fitness certificate seekers.

The road transport authority instantly withdrew Shah Muhammad Muabiya for being late in providing service.

During the drive, the ACC team called the deputy director of BRTA Masud Alam for the reformation and development of the system of registration and fitness certificate service to provide the better service.

The team also gave importance to the best use of the modern technological vehicle fitness device which was recently installed in the BRTA to end the hassle of the fitness certificate service seekers.
Alongside, ten private cars got the fitness certificate without hassle and bribe in presence of ACC team. An Assistant Professor of North South University Minhaz Shahriar who was waiting for four hours to obtain the certificate expressed his satisfaction as he got the certificate easily for the ACC team’s effort without any hassle and bribe.

The team also distributed the Anti-corruption Stickers and leaflets among the service seekers to raise the awareness against the corruption.

Director General (Administration) of ACC Munir Chowdhury said ‘The main reason for the indiscipline in BRTA is corruption, so the drive is going on to end the corruption from the sector. Trap teams are always being deployed in the BRTA office to catch the corrupted people red handed. The situation will improve if the mass people extend their co-operation in ending the corruption culture.”
