Dhaka, Aug 19 (UNB) - Former Ambassador Mohammed Farooq passed away at a city hospital on Sunday. He was 70.
Mohammed Farooq who had been suffering from cancer breathed his last around 8 am, said a Foreign Ministry press release.
He left behind wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Born on January 10, 1949, Farooq was a cadre of 1973 bath BCS (Foreign Affairs).
During his long career, he served the Foreign Ministry, and Bangladesh missions in Thimphu, Canberra, Kuala Lumpur, Washington DC and Los Angeles in different capacities.
He represented Bangladesh in the Philippines as its ambassador.
Farooq, also former Chief Information Commissioner, will be laid to eternal rest at his village home in Bhola following a namaz-e-janaza at Bhola Govt School ground on Monday.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam expressed deep shock at the death of Mohammed Farooq.
Bangladesh High Commissioner in New Delhi Syed Muazzem Ali also condoled the death of their esteemed colleague.
