Dhaka, Aug 26 (UNB) – Abul Kashem Akand, former president of Naogaon district BNP, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday. He was 78.
Akand breathed his last at his residence around 1pm, said a BNP release.
Meanwhile, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock at his death.
In a condolence message, Fakhrul recalled Akand’s role in different movements for establishing democracy and restoring people’s rights.
He prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed his profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
