Rajshahi, Dec 7 (UNB) - A man was killed and his six family members were injured in an attack by his rivals over land dispute at Rakkitpara village in Bagmara upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Akbar Ali, 60, a resident of Bagmara village of the upazila.
Witnesses said Akbar Ali and his neighbour Mochon Ali had been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land at the village. As the court order went in favor of Akbar, he called a meeting of local leaders at his house on Wednesday noon.
At the meeting, rivals group attacked the residents of the house, leaving seven of the family members injured, Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Bagmara Police Station, said on Thursday, quoting locals.
The injured were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where Akbar succumbed to his injuries around 10:30 pm.
