Two killed in separate incidents in Cumilla, Sunamganj

Dhaka, Aug 27 (UNB) – Two people including a woman were killed in separate incidents in Cumilla and Sunamganj on Monday.

In Sunamganj, a woman allegedly knifed her husband to death over a family feud in Kulongo Noyagram village of Dirai upazila.

The deceased was identified as Md Shah Alam Chowdhury, 60, son of late Abul Mia Chowdhury of Kulongo Noyagram village.

Locals and police said Shah Alam had an argument with his wife Siddiqua Chowdhury around 11am on Monday. At one stage, Siddiqua stabbed her husband with a knife killing him on the spot.

Later, locals held Siddiqua and handed her to police, said officer-in-charge of Dirai Police Station ABM Delwar Hssain. 

Meanwhile in Cumilla, Mithun, son of Mukbul Hossain of Kalipur village, allegedly killed his wife- Farzana Aktar, 21, for dowry in Kalipur village in Titas upazila.

Deceased’s relatives said Mithun had been torturing his wife for dowry.

Early hour on Monday Mithun killed his wife and hanged the body with a stand of their house to fabricate the killing as suicide, they said.

Sub-inspector of Totas Police Station Md Abdur Rahman said the body has been sent to district hospital for autopsy.

Mithun and his family members went on the run after the incident, he said.
