Dhaka, Aug 9 (UNB)- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) condoled the death of its Board Director Afzalur Rahman Sinha, who breathed his last at the Gleneagles Global Hospital in Chennai of India on Wednesday evening.
He was 68. The BCB expressed their deep sadness and extends heartfelt sympathy to his family members and near and dear ones.
At the time of his death Afzalur Rahman Sinha had been serving as the Chairman of the Board’s Finance Committee.
He was also the chairman of the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) Governing Council of the BCB.
Renowned cricket organizer, Sinha was the President of Dhaka League Club Limited and the Surjo Tarun Club, where he had been involved for two decades.
He was also a Director of Abahani Limited and had been the President of Azad Boys Club.
Sinha, a Freedom Fighter, was elected to the BCB in 1998 and had successfully served in many capacities including that of the Board’s Treasurer.
The first namaz-e-janaza of Afzalur Rahman Sinha will be held at the Acme Corporate Office in Kalyanpur of the capital on Friday at 8 am.
His body then be brought to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur where the second namaz-e-janaza will be held at 9 am.
The third namaz-e-janaza Sinha will be held at the Dhaka Club at 10:30 am.
He will be buried at his ancestral home in Bikrampur after Juma prayers where the final namaz-e-janaza will be performed.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Abahani Limited, Dhaka Club Limited, Bangladesh Olympic Association and Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association also condoled the death of Sinha.
