Dhaka, July 12 (UNB) –Bangladesh’s star golfer Siddikur Rahman made a poor start in the US$500,000 Bank BRI Indonesia Open, with a wild 1st round at the Pondok Indah Golf Course in Jakarta on Thursday that left him wallowing in 84th on the table .
Siddikur traded three birdies against two bogies and a triple bogey, to card two-over-par 74, eight shots behind the joint leaders Johannes Veerman [USA] and Matthew Millar [Australia].
Bangladesh’s two-time Asian tour winner started the day brightly with a birdie in the par-4 first hole, and remained relatively untroubled as he breezed through the front-9 with a succession of pars.
But Siddikur’s entire round started going awry with a triple bogey in the par-4 10th hole. From there he never really recovered, with further bogies in the 13th and 16th holes offsetting birdies in the 15th and 18th holes, to end the day in his lowly position shared with 15 others.
